The Piedmont region in collaboration with the Fondazione Ferrero present to the public from 19 October 2008-18 January 2009 a major exhibition dedicated to chocolate, passion among the most widespread and contagious. The exhibition entitled
chocolate from the Mayan twentieth century is housed in the Foundation Ferrero in the wonderful town of Alba.
The Adventure of chocolate begins in very distant in the rainforest. In
shows a setting suggestiva richiama proprio la giungla con i suoi odori, colori, reperti precolombiani e codici antichi che illustrano la lavorazione e la consumazione del cacao.
Gli Atzechi infatti lo consideravano il cibo degli Dei.
Arrivato in Europa intorno al XV - XVII secolo il cioccolato si diffuse prima in Spagna e poi in tutti gli altri paesi.
Amato e gustato in tutte le corti, nel 700 il suo consumo con la dolcificazione diventa alla moda. Col tempo, nessun nobile, borghese o religioso riesce a sottrarsi al piacere di una tazza di cioccolata. Le manifatture di tutta Europa da Meissen a Sèvres lavorano senza sosta per creare porcellane, servizi d'argento e cioccolatiere usate per servire il nettare afrodisiaco.
